Abstract

This thesis aims at developing a predictive mechanical modelling taking into account the physico-chemical properties of the adhesives, in accordance with the questioning of the project managers concerning a spreading assembling method: structural bonding.
Experiments on epoxydes used in Civil Engineering brought to the fore behavioural differences between bulk adhesives and adhesive joints. Physical and hygrothermal ageing effects were analysed to evidence evolution laws for the properties of adhesives.
At the same time, a mechanical modelling based on the first gradient of damage theory was developed to describe both the interface state in adhesively bonded joints and the physico-chemical and viscoelastic behaviours of the adhesive.
Further studies will rely on this modelling to find out the evolution laws for the theoretical parameters depending on the ageing phenomena evidenced in the adhesive joints.
