Abstract
The development of new applications such as transparent systems for lighting or displays has motivated research on luminescent nanoparticles. In particular it is interesting to find original syntheses to prepare isolated and well dispersed nanoparticles of oxides that offer specific optical pr!
operties for a given application. However, these compounds generally crystallize at high temperature, leading to a number of practical problems during the synthesis : controlling the size and agregation state of particles at these temperatures, as well as controlling the stoichiometry and oxidation state of dopants is difficult.
This work presents an original process for the synthesis of silicate and aluminate oxides. The presence of an inorganic solid matrix during the high temperature heat treatment allows one to limit particle growth and to maintain the nanoparticle dispersion during calcination. Using this technique, it is possible to obtain well crystallized particles in the shape of colloids with size lying between 50 and 100 nm after heat treatment above 800°C.
