Abstract
Linear Motors have become leading component in the field of the high-speed machine tools. Nowadays, the Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor (PMLSM) is the main component permitting to obtain higher performances than its rotary counterpart. However, to use these components in an optimal manner, it is necessary to take into account the specificities of these linear motors. Indeed, electric and magnetic phenomena, such as the non-sinusoidal electromotive forces, saturated inductances and detent forces, generate in the linear motor, the ripple forces that are disturbing for the mechanical part. Indeed, the goal of this study is to improve, in a first part, the modelling of these linear motors. Analytical methods and the finite-element method are used to show the impact of these phenomena on the electromagnetic force. Then, in a second part, we define the optimal control structures by taking into account the previously obtained models. The formalism of the Causal Ordering Graph (COG), developed at the L2EP laboratory, help to represent and to define in a systematic way the control design. Thus, the inversion principles of the COG are detailed to design the structure of feedback control and of non-feedback control. The industrial control structure is analyzed and new control structures are proposed in order to optimize the thrust of a LMD10-050 linear motor of ETEL company.
