Abstract

Tremendous growth in the world energy utilization has compelled researchers to explore new energy resources. Liquified Petroleum Gases have proved to be excellent candidates for this purpose. However, economic and environmental requirements imposed on the industry to control acidic gas contents are new challenges for the researchers. This requires the study of "liquid – liquid – vapor" equilibrium of hydrocarbons – amines aqueous solutions. Intensive experimentation is carried out to generate reliable and valid data concerning hydrocarbon solubility measurements in different amine aqueous solutions (MDEA and DEA). The apparatus used in this work is based on Static-Analytic Techniques, in which samples are analyzed by means of Gas Chromatography. Two approaches are used for modeling of the various systems, i.e., Henry’s Law approach and Equation of State method. Algorithms for "Liquid-Vapor" isothermal flash and three phases isothermal flash have been developed for the calculations of Phase Equilibrium. The obtained results will enable engineers to improve existing technologies of Hydrocarbon Processing in terms of capital cost, processing time and product quality. This work will also enable to prevent amines losses during hydrocarbon processing in absorption processes.
