Abstract

Achieving multi-provider and cross-network services is a difficult and expensive problem today. The objective of our thesis is to simplify the realization of such services, for this reason we proposed new control plane mechanisms.
In a first part we present a new theoretical framework for the concepts of the control plan.
Then in 2nd part we identify the difficulties of achieving multi-provider and cross-network services. Then we show that one of the origins of these difficulties comes from the cooperative nature of the control plane which poses problems that we identify.
This precision of the origin of the difficulties allowed us in a 3rd part, to understand that the current mechanisms of signaling are not optimal for the requirements of the control plane. Thus we propose a change of paradigm for signaling more adapted to the control plane requirements.
In the 4th part, in order to implement this new signaling, we propose a new generic method to structure the data of the local context which we call the Generic Context.
In the 5th part, we propose a new signaling protocol that we call the Generic Context Sharing Protocol (GCSP). GCSP implements the new signaling paradigm.
Finally, in the 6th part, in order to show the validity of our approach, we implement it in an industrial product. Thus we propose a new Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) architecture and signaling mediators which solves several technical and financial constraints from which the old CTI architecture suffered.
